The new independent nations that formed following the treaty of Versailles were Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Austria, and Hungry. In Wilson's 14 Points speech he outlined restoring Belgium, freeing all French Territory, readjustment of Italy's frontiers, Austria and Hungary would be freed and allowed to develop, Serbia Romania and Montenegro would be freed and restored, and Poland would become an independent state.
