Heart rate (can cause tachycardia/angina), instruct patient to check pulse and to report increase of greater than 20-30bpm. Also instruct client to observe for chest, jaw, arm pain or palpitations and to notify HCP if they occur.

The most important cardiovascular parameter to monitor is Heart rate and also ECG (electrocardiography).

Although albuterol is well tolerated by the body, especially when compared with other therapies such as theophylline, as any drug there is a risk of ADR (adverse drug event) especially when taking high doses, or when administered orally or intravenously. Common side effects include: tremors, palpitations, headaches. Tachycardia, excitement, the feeling of tiredness and the risk of habituation remain rare.
