x^2 = 6y

The equation is for a parabola

The standard form is 4p(y-k) = (x-h)^2

We can tell the vertex is (0,0)

Rewriting the standard form

4p(y) = x^2

Setting 4p = 6

Solving for p

p = 6/4 = 3/2

To find the focus, add p to the vertex. Since this is a vertical parabola, add to the y compoent

Since it us upward facing, the focus is above the vertex

(0, 0+3/2) = (0,3/2)
