Answer:

y = 1/4x

Explanation:

Use slope intercept form: y = mx + b

m = slope; rise/run

b = y-intercept

Begin with b, find the y - intercept, where the line crosses the y-axis.

The line crosses the y-axis at 0.

From that point find the slope using rise/run to the next point on the line, which is (4, 1).

You rise 1 and run 4 to the next point, so the slope is 1/4

Plug-in for m and b

y = 1/4x + 0

The zero is not necessary, so it isn't written.

y = 1/4x

A good way to tell if the slope is positive or negative, follow the line from left to right. If it goes up hill it is positive. If it goes down hill it is negative.
