In a contest, each finalist must answer 5 questions correctly. Each question is worth twice as much as the question before it. The fifth question is worth $1,600. How much is the first question worth?

Alrighty.
If each question is worth twice as much, we must divide 1,600 into 2, which is 800.
800/2 is 400
400/2 is 200
200/2 is 100
Now, after we divide 100/2 we get 50.
In conclusion, the first question was 50 dollars.
