Answer:

A geologist studies the about the various geological features that are present at or below the surface of earth. These features are the structural controls such as faults, folds, joints and fractures which are responsible for the collapsing of high elevated buildings and other human-made structures.

A civil engineer is a person who designs and constructs the buildings and other high infrastructures.

An engineer may sometimes need to consult with a geologist regarding the most suitable and favorable site for the construction of heavy buildings. It is because the location or a site where a building is needed to construct, must be investigate properly, whether there is any presence of fault or fracture below the surface of that area, presence of hard and resistant rocks that are able to hold the buildings, and also the soil quality must be tested.

These are some of the information, which are needed to be collect from a geologist by a civil engineer.
