*The sum of two numbers is 2,490. Find the numbers if 8.5% of the first is equal to 6.5% of the second.

x+y=2490
0.085x=0.065y
multiply the first equation with 0.085: 0.085x+0.085y=211.65
repleace 0.085x with 0.065y (because 0.085x=0.065y): 0.065y+0.085y=211.65
0.15y=211.65
y=1411
x=2490-1411=1079
so the first number is 1079, the second number is 1411
