In standard form:

Count the spaces in between each digit from right to left until the point where the decimal point is located.

The number of spaces in between each digit = 6

Since the spaces are counted backwards, the power notation takes a negative (-) sign.

0.000025 is thus rewritten as :

0.000025 = 25 * 10^-6

To place a decimal point in between 25 and rewrite as 2.5,

We the write as :

2.5 * 10^-5 cm
