Four ways to effectively interact with people from other cultures include:
a. Learn about their culture beforehand, certain basic dos and dont's so you don't unintentionally offend them in any way. Example, bowing to show respect in Japanese culture.
b. Be polite and try to speak as clearly as possible. Try to speak slowly too, so they don't have to struggle to understand you.
c. Brush up on your language skills a bit and try to use a lot of body language and open handed gestures.
d. Expect different types of facial expressions and try to respect the personal space that might be expected in the situation.
