Two water balloons of mass 0.65 kg collide and bounce off of each other without breaking. Before the collision, one water balloon moved at a velocity of 3 m/s east, while the other moved at a velocity of 2 m/s west. After the collision, one balloon moves at a velocity of 1.5 m/s west. What is the velocity of the other water balloon?

Taking motion towards East as +ve ....

(0.65kg x 3.0m/s) + (0.65kg x - 2.0m/s) = 0.65 kg.m/s

(0.65 x v?) + (0.65 x - 1.50) = 0.65(v - 1.50)

By conservation .. before = after
0.65 = 0.65(v - 1.50)
1 = (v - 1.5) .. .. ►v = (+) 2.50 m/s (East)
