A rectangle has a width of 9 units and a length of 40 units. what is the length of the diagonal

The width, the length and th diagonal of a rectangle form a triangle rectangle and we can apply the theorem of pythagoras as:


c^(2) =a^(2) +b^(2)

Where c is the length of the diagonal, a is the length of the rectangle and b is the width of the rectangle. Replacing values and solve for c, we get:


c^(2) =40^(2) +9^(2)


c^(2) =1600+81


c^(2) =1681


c=√(1681)

c=41

So, The length of the diagonal is 41.
