No gumption is narrated by the main character, Russell. He is the one the walk us through his feeling and show us the context of the difficult situation he and his family are living, To build a fire, on the other hand, has a third person omniscient, The narrator show to us the thinking of the man as well as the dog one during the story and also has a judgment tone sometimes.
