Using the elimination method, what is x and y, I am mostly having trouble with the y part, please explain

2x - 4y = 28
-x + 6y = -14​

Explanation:

Given that,

2x - 4y = 28 ....(1)

-x + 6y = -14​ ....(2)

Multiplying equation (2) by 2.

-2x + 12y = -28 ....(3)

Adding equation (1) and (3).

2x - 4y + (-2x) + 12y = 28 + (-28)

-4y +12y = 0

y = 0

Put the value of y in equation (2).

-x + 6(0)= -14

x = 14

Hence, the solution of the equations are x = 14 and y = 0.
