Answer: there could be no taxes on southern exports

Step-by-step explanation:

The Commerce and Slave Trade Compromise was presented at the Constitutional Convention (1787) as the answer to the dispute between Northern and Southern states.

While Southern States wanted to protect the agriculture and slave trade, the Northern States wanted to protect their own commercial interests.

The compromise stated that Congress could not ban the slave trade until 1808, although imported slaves could be taxed.
