The A. Mandate System was put in place after World War I to deal with the issue of Germany's former colonies.
Following the end of World War I, in which the Central Powers had lost, the newly formed League of Nations (consisting of the victorious Allies and other countries), created a Mandate System.
The system was a legal statute in which the League of Nation granted authorization to a member nation (called "mandatory powers" or "mandatory"), to govern a former German or Turkish colony (called "mandate").
