It changed the meaning of family because many people were sent to work. Children working as young as 5 years old in life-threatening factories. They also always worked very long hours. Many women and children weren't able to see each other at all anymore

The industrial revolution changed the common meaning of family because the families changed from extended families to conjugal families.

Explanation:

After the advent of industrial revolution, social settings changed and people chose to opt to take industrial jobs and abandoned agriculture. The young men of the family left their parents back and moved to towns with their partners and children to work in the industries.

This act resulted in the downsizing of families and changed the meaning of the concept of family.
