One of the greatest weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation was the inability of the federal government to levy taxes. This was largely due to the fact that taxes were such a significant part of the American Revolution in the first place. Naturally, this made it difficult for the federal governemnt to accomplish anything without a source of revenue.
