"Louis XIV did not support the growth of New France." would be the correct answer.

The purpose of new France was for France to profit off of it by growing tobacco, fishing, etc.

The correct answer is C) Long, harsh Canadian winters made farming difficult.

A problem that limited the growth of New France was that long, harsh Canadian winters made farming difficult.

King Louis XIV supported all the requested from the people in the New French. He did what he could, but in New France, the colonists tended to be fewer in number basically because colonizing and staying there for the long run was not their goal. In Canada specifically, the long, harsh Canadian winters made farming difficult. What they did was hunting to trap furs and sell it to Europe. For this reason, few women came to New France. There were limited possibilities to make a living in Canada, although some Frenchmen had Indian wives.
