Answer:

x=7 and y=6

Explanation:

We have been given with the equation 2x+y=20 (1)

And -5y = -6x+12 it can be written as -5y+6x=12 (2)

Now we can get the value of y in terms of x from equation (1) we get y = 20-2x

Now substitute y =20-2x in equation (2)

we will get -5(20 -2x)+6x=12 after simplifying we will get

-100 +10x +6x=12

On further simplification 16x =112 then we will get

x=7

Now substitute x=7 in equation y = 20-2x

y = 20 -2(7)

y=6

Hence, x=7 and y =6

Solve for yy in 2x+y=202x+y=20How?
y=20-2xy=20−2x
Substitute y=20-2xy=20−2x into -5y=-6x+12−5y=−6x+12How?
-5(20-2x)=-6x+12−5(20−2x)=−6x+12

Solve for xx in -5(20-2x)=-6x+12−5(20−2x)=−6x+12How?
x=7x=7

Substitute x=7x=7 into y=20-2xy=20−2xHow?
y=6y=6
Therefore,
x=7x=7
y=6y=6
