A mountain climber is climbing from the top of a 12,000 foot peak to the top of a 14,000 foot peak. The horizontal distance between the two peaks is 3,000 feet. What is the average slope to get from the first peak to the second peak?

A. 14/3

The description for slope is the rise over run. In other words, this is the ratio of the vertical displacement to the horizontal displacement. In equation form, that would be:

Slope = Δy/Δx = (14000 - 12000)/(3000 ft)
Slope = 2/3

So, the answer is C.
