Explain your reasoning why the negative fraction get smaller the further you go left of zero

On a number number line, the numbers to the left of zero keeps decreasing in value as we move further left of zero. These numbers on the left of zero are negative numbers. They could also be fractions but since they are on the left of zero, it would always get smaller.
