first off, let's change the mixed fraction to "improper", and then proceed,

\bf \stackrel{mixed}{5(1)/(2)}\implies \cfrac{5\cdot 2+1}{2}\implies \stackrel{improper}{\cfrac{11}{2}}\\\\ -------------------------------\\\\ \cfrac{\quad 5(1)/(2) \quad }{(3)/(5)}\implies \cfrac{\quad (11)/(2)\quad }{(3)/(5)}\implies \cfrac{11}{2}\cdot \cfrac{5}{3}\implies \cfrac{55}{6}\implies 9(1)/(6)
