There is a spinner with 12 equal areas, numbered 1 through 12. If the spinner is spunone time, what is the probability that the result is a multiple of 4 or a multiple of 6?

The probability will be the number of sectors that are multiple of 4 or 6 divided by the total number of sectors, 12.

The multiples of 4 are 4, 8 and 12, and the multiples of 6 are 6 and 12.

12 appears on both, but we only count it once. So, we want the sectors 4, 6, 8 or 12, which accounts to 4 sectors.

Thus, the probability is:

\begin{gathered} P=(4)/(12) \\ P=(1)/(3) \end{gathered}
