A car and a motorcycle move in the same direction by the same highway. At the beginning, the distance between them is 105 km. The car driver maintains an average speed of 90 km/h. What is the average speed of the motorcyclist, if the car driver caught up with him in 3 hours?

Car: distancec = 105 km + (90 km/hr)(3 hrs)

Cycle: distancem = ratem(3 hrs)

Equate these 2 distances: 105 km + 270 km = ratem(3 hrs)

Then 375 km / 3 hrs = ratem = 125 km/hr (average speed of the motorcyclist)
