It would be D, 2 x 5x is 10x, 2 x 1 is 2, if you put them together it makes 10x + 2

Answer:

Option D) 2(5x + 1)

Explanation:

We are given an expression in the question:

10x + 2

We have to find the equivalent expression to the given expression.

Distributive Property:

  • The distributive property helps to multiply a sum by multiplying each addend separately and then add the products.

  • a(b+c)=a(b)+a(c) = ab +ac

A)

x(10 + 2)\\=x(10)+x(2)\\=10x + 2x\\=12x

which is not equal to the given expression.

B)

10(x + 2)\\=10(x)+10(2)\\=10x+20

which is not equal to the given expression.

C)

2(x + 2)\\=2(x) + 2(2)\\=2x +4

which is not equal to the given expression.

D)

2(5x + 1)\\=2(5x) + 2(1)\\=10x + 2

which is equal to the given expression.
