A tunnel is 30 yards long and 15 yards wide. The height of the tunnel walls is 5 yards before the curve of the cylinder-shaped ceiling. What is the volume of the tunnel? Use 3.14 for pi. The tunnel is made of two shapes and we can find the volume of each.
Cuboid volume=15×5×30=2250 cu yds.
Half cylinder volume=π(7.5)²30/2=843.75π=2649.38 cu yds.
Total volume=4899.38 cu yds.
