If you assign the letter n to the "number" youo get:

Seven Less: -7

Twice A Number: 2n

Is 5 : =5

2n-7=5

To solve the equation you:

1. add 7 in both sides of the equation:

\begin{gathered} 2n-7+7=5+7 \\ 2n=12 \end{gathered}

2. divide both sides of the equation into 2:

\begin{gathered} (2n)/(2)=(12)/(2) \\ n=6 \end{gathered}Then, the number is n=6
