Think: If we go from A to B, x decreases by 6, from 2 to -4. One third of that distance is 2. So, the x-coordinate of the point that divides line segment AB in the ratio 1:2 as we go from A to B is 2-2=0.

As we go from A to B, y increases by 9-(-3) =12.
One third of that is 4. So, y increases from -3 to +1.

The point in question is (0,1).
