Julie has 6 boxes of cookies.She gives 2/3 of the boxes to her friend.How many boxes does Julie have left over?

She had two boxes of cookies left. Here's how to solve:

First, put 6 over 1 to turn 6 wholes into it's fraction form. The fraction looks like this:

6/1

Now multiply 6/1 by 2/3:

6/1 * 2/3 = 12/3

That simplifies down to 4. So, now that you know what 2/3 of 6 is. Subtract 4 from 6:

6 - 4 = 2

So she has 2 boxes leftover :)
