Randall spent $61.25 on some CDs and a set of headphones. All of the CDs were on sale for the same price. The set of headphones cost $12.50. If he bought 5 CDs, what were the sale price of each CD?

well $61.25 - 12.50= 48.75 divide that by 5 and the ANSWER is $9.75

OK. We know that all of the CDs cost the same amount, and how much total he spent. If you take the total cost of the headphones, and subtract it from the total he spent, you will get the total he spent solely on CDs.

61.25-12.50=48.75

So, he spent $48.75 on CDs. Since he bought 5 CDs, and they were all equal price, you'd have to divide the cost equally amongst the five CDs.

48.75/5=9.75

The sale price of the CDs are $9.75.
