Read this excerpt from the Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln and answer the question.

We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. … But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground.

What is the effect of some of the literary devices in the Gettysburg Address excerpt?

1.) It uses deductive reasoning about all soldiers.
2.) It evokes feeling of honoring the dead.
3.)It foreshadows "I Have a Dream" speech.

Answer:

4.) It establishes sense of place.

Step-by-step explanation:

Lincoln reminds his listeners that , as that is the place where the Battle of Gettysburg took place and thousands of soldiers died, that place will be a spot on the map. This spot will always remind the Americans that that was the birth of freedom. This is clearly seen through these words:" We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live.."
