On a map, Melbourne, Australia, is 22 centimeters from Sydney, Australia. The actual distance is 880 kilometers. If Canberra, Australia, is 286 kilometers from Sydney, how far apart will they appear on the map, to the nearest centimeter? 3 centimeters 7 centimeters 13 centimeters 68 centimeters

7 centimeters because you have to find how many kilometers are in each kilometer and that is 40 so then you divide 286 by 49 which is 7.15 then you round

Answer: 7 cm

Explanation:

In the Map,

The distance of Australia from Sydney = 22 cm,

But, the actual distance of Australia from Sydney = 880 km,

Thus, In the map the scale is,

880 km = 22 cm

\implies 1\text{ km}=(22)/(880)= (1)/(40)\text{ cm}

\implies 286\text{ km}= 286* (1)/(40)=(286)/(40)=7.15\text{ cm}\approx 7 \text{ cm}

Since, the actual Canberra from Sydney in the map = 286 km

Thus, the distance of Canberra from Sydney in the map = 7 cm (approx)
