3x^3 - 8x + 5

use the 'ac' method:-

multiplying the first and last coefficients we have 3 * 5 = 15

note -3 * -5 = 15 and -3 - 5 = -8 so we write 3x^2 - 8x + 5 as

3x^ - 3x - 5x + 5

Factor by grouping:-

= 3x(x - 1) - 5(x - 1)

= (3x - 5)(x - 1) Answer
