Mrs. Barrett will be serving 40 people at Lydee’s birthday party. She plans to make three meatballs for each person. Mrs. Barrett spent $39.00 at the store on the meat, which sells for $3.25 per pound. If Mrs. Barrett wants to make all the meatballs the same size, what will be the size, in pounds, of each meatball?

$3.25 per pound and spent $39.00
so
$39.00 / $3.25 = 12 lbs

40 people at birthday party and three meatballs for each person

40 x 3 = 120
meatballs total for 40 people

so now you have
12 lbs for 120 meatballs
how many lbs for 1 meatball?

12 / 120 = 0.1 lbs

answer
each meatball will be 0.1 pounds
