Length of rectangle =11cm

width of rectangle =4.2cm

Area of rectangle is the product of length and breadth

\begin{gathered} \text{Area of Rectangle =length }* Width \\ \text{Substitute the values} \\ \text{Area of rectangle=11}*4.2 \\ \text{Area of rectangle =46.2cm}^2 \end{gathered}

Since, the circle touches the length of rectangle two times, thus,

Diameter of circle = Length of rectangle

\begin{gathered} \text{Diameter =11cm} \\ Radius=(Diameter)/(2) \\ \text{Radius}=(11)/(2) \\ \text{Radius}=5.5\operatorname{cm} \\ \text{Area of circle =}\Pi r^2 \\ \text{Area of circle = }(22)/(7)(5.5)^2 \\ \text{Area of circle =}(22)/(7)*30.25 \\ \text{Area of circle=95.071cm}^2 \end{gathered}

Since, the area of shaded region = Area of rectangle - Area of circle

\begin{gathered} \text{Area of shaded region=}46.2cm^2-95.071\operatorname{cm} \\ \text{ Area of shaded region = 48.87cm}^2 \end{gathered}
