A catering company charges $300 plus $40 per guest for a wedding. Sarah and Eric do not want to spend more than $5,000 on catering. Write and solve an inequality in terms of the number of guests, g, that can be invited.

5,000=300 + 40x
-300 -300
4,700= 40x
4,700/40=x
117.5 =x sarah and eric cant have anymore than 117 guests

300 + 40g ≤ 5000; g ≤ 117 is the correct answer. Take the base amount, 300, and add 40 “g” times (“g” is the number of guests). This expression must be ≤ 5000 since they do not want to spend more than $5,000. Solve the inequality to get the answer.

Hope I helped have a great day!
