Identify the structural features of 1950s society that made the “traditional family” possible.

I would say that in the 1950's many people in North America would have full-time long term employment ie stable jobs which would give a solid economic basis for the traditional family plus there would be much less divorce at that time so the homes would have the first mother and father and their own children in most cases which would be a cornerstone of a traditional family too.
