Tom buys a shirt for 22.00 plus 7% sales tax. His cousin buys a shirt for 18.00 plus sales tax. How much do tom and his cousin pay for the shirts? Who spent more on tax?

For tom, find 7% of 22$. 0.07(22)=1.54. 22+1.54=23.54. That is how much Thomas paid for the shirt with tax.
For his cousin, find 7% of 18$. 0.07(18)=1.26. 18+1.26=19.26. That is how much his cousin paid with tax. Since 1.54 is greater than 1.26, Tom paid more tax.

Hey You!

Tom:

22*7% = 1.54

His Cousin:

18*7% = 1.26

22 + 1.54 = 23.54

18 + 1.26 = 19.26

So, Tom pays $23.54 and His Cousin pays $19.26 and Tom payed more tax.
