The Nile River gave the Egyptians a strip of land for farming, where almost everywhere else in Africa was desert. This helped Egyptians develop a well governed civilization, because it allowed them to settle down, and to be able to grow the food they need in order to survive. This means that with a constant food supply, they can focus on creating technology, and excelling in almost all aspects.Without the Nile river, they wouldn't have been able to build up the empire that they did.

hope this helps
