Conversion disorder or Dissociative disorders is the condition in which physical symptoms appear as a defense against overwhelming anxiety, it is characterized by a series of symptoms that affect the motor or sensory functions, in absence of a neurological disorder or a medical illness that explains or justifies it. It is called conversion disorder because the person turns a psychological conflict into a physical disorder, usually begins in the late teenage years and in the first years of adulthood.
