Xavier sells homemade necklaces for a profit of $22 per necklace. He is considering switching to a new type of pendant that will increase his profit, as expressed by the function y = 29x, where x is the number sold and y is the amount of profit.

How many more dollars will Xavier earn on each necklace if he switches to the new material? Explain how you found your answer

Hello there!

So, if he had a profit of $22 before, and now a profit of $29, based on the equation --
y = 29x

Then 29 - 22
=7

He will make 7 more dollars if he switches to the new material.

Hope I helped!

Hey there!

So the original profit is y=22x; x=number of necklaces and y=profit

New:
y=29x; x=number of necklaces and y=profit

Xavier will earn $7 more if he switches to his new plan because a keyword in the question is "How many more" and that usually means to subtract, so take away 22 from 29 and you get 7

Hope this helps!
