The Product of Na2C204 and Ag+

When sodium oxalate (Na2C2O4) and silver ion(Ag+) reacts to form silver oxalate (Ag2C2O4). When they react, then sodium(Na) is replaced by silver(Ag) so the product will be silver oxalate (Ag2C2O4) and the release of sodium. Sodium oxalate is volatile upon heating around 140 degrees celsius, shock or friction.

Looking at the given reactants, you would know that this is a single replacement reaction. The first reactant, Na₂C₂O₄, is a ionic compound while the second reactant, Ag+, is only an ion. Thus, you would have to replace Na with Ag to displace Na+.

Na₂C₂O₄ + 2 Ag⁺ --> Ag₂C₂O₄ + 2 Na⁺

The main product is silver oxalate, Ag₂C₂O₄.
