When Kabongo made the statement, "something has taken away the meaning of our lives." what he referred to as "something" was European Imperialism (i.e The coming of the white men, whom he referred to as the “Pink Cheeks”). Kabongo was a Chief of the Kikuyu people, in the present day Kenya.
