Recognize this as an application of the Pythagorean Theorem. The lengths of the sides are given: base is 4 spaces and altitude 7 spaces, so the hypotenuse AC is sqrt( 4^2 + 7^2 ), or sqrt (65). This is a little larger than 8.

it's Pythagorean theorem.
a^2+b^2=c^2
a and b are the non hypotenuse sides.
so BC is 4 units and AC is 7 units
4^2+7^2=c^2
answer is √65 which is 8.06
