The Great Pyramid was built in Egypt more than 4,000 years ago. It was built by King Khufu, or Cheops, who intended to use it as a tomb. The pyramid contains about 2,300,000 blocks of stone, each weighing 2 1⁄2 tons. Can you calculate the approximate total weight of the Great Pyramid, in pounds?

it would be 920000 because if you divide 2300000 by 2 1/2 you get the answer of 920000

Answer:

The correct answer is 11.500.000.000‬ pounds.

Explanation:

To solve this problem, you can to use the rule of three to find the weigth.

  • 1 block → 2,5 tons
  • 2.300.000 blocks → x tons.

Now, you have to multiply 2.300.000 blocks by 2,5 tons and divide by 1 block.

x =(2.300.000 blk * 2,5 tn)/( 1 blk) = 5.750.000 tn // block divided by block is 1.

Now, you have to convert tons to pounds:

  • 1 ton → 2000 pounds.
  • 5.750.000 tons → y pounds.

y =(5.750.000tn * 2.000lb)/(1tn) = 11.500.000.000 lb // ton divided by ton is 1.
