The correct option is this: WE CAN NOT DETECT IT USING THE CHEMICAL SENSES.
The chemical senses refers to the senses of taste and smell. In order for one to detect a stimuli by chemical sense, such a stimuli must be dissolved in water or the mucous that coats the olfactory epithelium. A stimuli that is not dissolved in water or mucous can not be perceived.
