Why does a black asphalt road becomes hotter than a white cement sidewalk in the same amount of sunlight?

In general, the darker the color of something, the more heat the object absorbs. Thus, even though the asphalt road and sidewalk both were exposed to equal amounts of sunlight, the sidewalk reflects the light easier while the asphalt absorbs the heat.
