Any answer choice you make must satisfy the system of inequalities

y ≤ 3

y > -x + 1.

If you believe that (-1,3) satisfies both inequalities, check this by substitution into the inequalities:

In (-1,3), y=3. Is the inequality y ≤ 3 true for y=3? YES

In (-1,3), x = -1. Is the inequality 3 > -(-1)+1 true? Is 3>2 true? YES

So (-1,3) satisfies both inequalities. You must go thru the same process to check the other possible answers; there may be more than one answer.
