Medicare is a federal program that provides health coverage if you are 65 or older or have a serious disability, no matter how much you make. Medicaid is a state and federal program that provides health coverage if you don't make a lot of money. The SCHIP program was created to provide health insurance to children whose families who are not able to afford a private health plan, but do not qualify for Medicaid.
