So you divide 4 by 12 and get .333 (repeated), which is about 33%. This is the first answer.

This is the second answer. You then add 4 and 12 to get the total, which is 16. Then get 4 and divided it by 16, and the decimal will be .25, which is 25%.

Answer:

300% of Tom’s catch was his son’s catch.

Tom caught 25% of the total number of fish.

Explanation:

First, you do 12/4 = 3, you do this because you need to do this to find the percentage it's like 50% of 10 apples is 10/2 = 5 apples. Then you multiply by 100 because it's a percentage. Then you get 3 * 100 = 300%. IT IS NOT 33% or 33 1/3%!

For the second answer, you do 4 + 12 to find the total number of fish which is 16. Then do you take 4 which is the number that Tom caught and put that over 16, 4/16 = 0.25. Multiply that by 100 and get 25%.
